The Yves Salomon man: function elevated to elegance

Some garments are worn for protection, others for distinction. The Yves Salomon men’s wardrobe refuses to choose. Born from the savoir-faire of a family of furriers established in Paris since 1920, it treats the utilitarian piece with the rigor of fine craftsmanship. A parka becomes an object of material. An everyday jacket reveals, on the inside, a shearling lining.

This is an elegance that does not seek attention. It reveals itself in the wearing, in the weight, in the touch of the collar against the neck.

The parka, a founding piece

It all begins here. Waterproof technical cotton on the outside, fox, rabbit or coyote fur on the inside and around the hood: the Yves Salomon parka established a simple idea, that of luxurious warmth concealed beneath a functional appearance. Short for the city, long for harsher winters, it remains the Maison’s most recognizable piece.

The reversible version takes the idea further: long-hair mink on one side, technical fabric on the other. Two garments in one, depending on mood or weather.

What the furrier’s hand changes

Working with pelts demands a precision that few workshops still master. Assembling pelts, shearing them, making them as supple as cloth: this craft, passed down through four generations, is found in every piece, even those without a single inch of fur. It explains the structure of a collar, the lightness of a shearling jacket, the precision of a lining. To go behind the scenes, discover our craftsmanship.

Natural and technical, without compromise

The men’s wardrobe brings two families of materials into dialogue. On one side, living materials: Merino lamb shearling, in fine curl or suede finish, mink or fox fur, wool and cashmere, baby calf leather and suede. On the other, performance fabrics: waterproof technical fabric and exceptional cloths by Loro Piana. Their union creates pieces able to withstand temperatures down to -4 °F (-20 °C) depending on the style, without sacrificing line.

A piece for every moment of winter

In the city. A shearling jacket or a leather jacket with a shearling collar, a structured coat: clean silhouettes that move from the office to dinner.

On the weekend. The shearling hoodie, the cashmere wool flannel overshirt, the short parka: a composed ease, where the material makes all the difference.

In extreme cold. Down jackets with shearling or mink bibs, long parkas in technical cotton. For the mountains, the [YS Mountain](LINK TO INSERT) collection takes over.

For the undecided. Reversible pieces offer two looks in a single garment.

All outerwear can be found in men’s coats and jackets.

Beneath the parka

What is worn underneath matters just as much. Men’s ready-to-wear is built around knitwear: 100% cashmere crew neck sweaters, in fine or chunky gauge, knitwear sets for quieter days. Flannel pants extend the silhouette. As for accessories, the heathered cashmere beanie remains the simplest gesture to complete an outfit.

Tones of earth and night

Tobacco brown, sand beige, heather gray, deep black. Midnight blue and khaki recall the utilitarian origins of the parka. A palette designed so that every piece pairs with the others, and with those already in the wardrobe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why has the Yves Salomon parka become a reference piece?

Because it unites two worlds rarely brought together: the efficiency of waterproof technical cotton and the warmth of a fur lining. Its cut remains sober, almost military, while the inside reveals the full extent of the Maison’s furrier savoir-faire. It comes in short, long or reversible versions, to be discovered in our selection of men’s parkas.

Shearling, fur or technical fabric: which material should I choose?

It all depends on use. Shearling offers natural, breathable warmth, ideal for everyday wear. Fur provides maximum insulation and an incomparable touch. Technical fabric protects against rain, snow and wind. Many of the Maison’s pieces combine these materials to bring together their qualities.

Which piece should I choose for extreme cold?

Choose a down jacket or a long parka in technical fabric lined with fur. Most of these styles are designed for comfort down to 14 °F (-10 °C), some down to -4 °F (-20 °C). The thermal rating is shown on each product page, and a dedicated filter lets you compare styles.
